As Carol wrote: I ran the race today too. My plan was
to run the race, get to my car, grab my new camera, and take some photos of kids crossing
the finish line. Bad plan! I finished and was disoriented. It was too hot! I couldn't find
my car, needed to cool down and drink some water. So, second best. I took some photos of
kids receiving their medals and trophies. Here are a few. This was the second time I ran this tough race. The course is a deceiving one. There is so much downhill at the beginning that it promises to be a PR but with the more than a mile uphill at the end most dreams of a PR vanish. |
| No, Mike LeMay is not a kid, but a soon-to-be father. His wife is
expecting a baby in just two weeks. There is no word if it will be a boy or a girl, but I
found out one important thing. He or she will be a runner! This is already on Mike's mind.
He's already wondering when his child can start running. Mike is a second cousin of the famous Joe LeMay who was the first American finisher in the Boston Marathon this year. He was also today's race winner with a time of 35:45:02 on a tough course, on a very hot day in the 80's with no shade. Unlike his cousin, Mike has not run a marathon. He's too busy as an medical intern at Derby Hospital, but would like to run one someday. |

John Matthews, Central Mass Strider took second place
and first master this year with a time of 36:18:58. He was last year's race winner. |
| Nancy Roberts, another Central Mass Strider also took home a trophy. She finished as third master with a time of 46 minutes and some change. Here is a photo of Nancy warming up before the race. Great job, Nancy. Nancy just ran the Wachusett Mountain Race on Saturday. What an inspiration! | ![]() |
