The second annual Martha's Vineyard 20-mile road racewas held on Saturday, Feb. 20, at 11mv.jpg (32787 bytes) am. The race started at the Steamship Authority terminal in Vineyard Haven and traveled around East Chop to Beach Road, to Edgartown, ending at the Oak Bluffs School via County Road.
At the finish line, runners enjoyed soup, bagels, and fruit, and the winners were rewarded with unique pottery designed especially for the race by the Mad Potter, Bill O'Callaghan.
This event was  again  sponsored by Martha's Vineyard Multisports, Inc., and benefited MVRHS track and cross-country teams, Minnesingers, the Martha's Vineyard Boys and Girls Club, and several other youth booster clubs. In addition, donations were made to the Dana Farber Cancer Fund as part of its marathon challenge.
Five hundred runners were expected for the race.
