Whitinsville - April 12th
It was strictly no contest for first as Rich Marion (Westminster) finished over four minutes ahead of
his nearest pursuer in the 17th running of the Tune-up 15K. Rich, who won the race last year and did
not run it in 1995, missed his 1994 course record by 22 seconds.
In addition to Rich, Steve Jackson (Worcester), Jerry Campbell (Hubbardston), Paul
Hargreaves (N,Brookfield) and Dave Birse (Hancock, NH) all placed in the top ten.
Peter Orni (Fitchburg) and Laura Beckwith (Holden) each placed first respectively in the men's and
women's seniors' division. Laura also topped all female masters in the race. Adam Roche
(Worcester) and Andy Gallivan (Worcester) were 1-2 among juniors, while Steve Brooks
(Gardner) was the first age 70+ finisher.
Of the 70 finishers, 24 were CMS members - that's 34 percent of the field. By contrast, the host
