Worcester - October 12th

One reason was unquestionably the late date on which the entry forms were put into circulation. However, that the 19th running of the Provident 5K (formerly the Paul Revere Companies 5K) only attracted slightly more that 100 runners is mystifying. This is a very well organized race which offers quality long-sleeve t-shirts, excellent prizes, and good post-race refreshments - all for a reasonable entry fee. Richard Bolt (Lunenburg) once again recorded an easy win. Matt DePari (Worcester) and Andy Gallivan (Wor- cester) finished 2-3 overall and were the first two juniors. Charlie Salmond (Fitchburg), Mark Wigler (Hubbardston) and Bob Girouard (Fitchburg) were 1-2-3 among masters. Bob was also the first senior, while Ray Boutotte (Pepperell) was third in that division. Otto Lies (Holden), Karl Tuomivaara (Paxton) and James McKiernan, Jr. (Shrewbury) placed 1-2-3 among veterans.Laura Hast (Dudley) was second overall among female competitors. Zelda Schwartz (Worcester) was both first master and first senior. Liza Bliss
