Summer Solstice

Paxton - June 24th

So you missed this year's Paxton Summer Solstice Road Race and you are blaming the CMS newsletter staff because it wasn't listed in the June/July newsletter calendar and the race flyer wasn't included in the newsletter mailing. Well, as usual the staff i s totally blameless (or is that clueless?). It seems that the organizing Paxton Recreation Commission underwent an administrative reorganization and, as a consequence, the new powers-that-be failed to notify CMS by the printing of the last issue of the newsletter that the race was being run.

Steve Jackson (Worcester), Peter Blomquist (Worcester) and Jerry Campbell (Hubbardston), who finished 1st, 2nd and 4th respectively, found out about the race when they happened upon entry forms at the CMS Members 5K. In addition to his second-place overall finish, Peter was also the first master. Glenn Richards (West Boylston) and Bob Cox (Rutland) placed 2-3 among masters. Andy Gallivan (Worcester) was the first junior while placing 5th overall and Otto Lies (Holden), Karl Tuomivaara (Paxton) and Ed Sato (Worcester) finished 1-2-3 among veterans. Bland Addison (Worcester) and Larry Gentile (Worcester) were 2-3 in the seniors' division. Kimberly Hoffman (Sterling) and Julie Paradis (Oakham) finished 2-3 in the women's competition. Julie was also the second female junior.
