10th Annual Grafton Gazebo 5Miler

Despite the hills, including the near one-mile monster between miles one and two, and the seemingly unremitting warm and humid conditions year after year, the Grafton Gazebo 5-miler consistently has drawn between 250 and 300 competitors. This year proved no exception, with 274 crossing the finish line at Grafton High School.

Richard Bolt (Lunenburg) led from start to finish to record his second area road race win in as many weekends. Richard had finished first the previous weekend at the Charity 5M in Fitchburg. Also in the top ten were Geary Daniels (Dudley), third overall and first master, Rich Ovian (Worcester), fourth and second master, Brad Fors (Leominster) and Paul Hargreaves (North Brookfield). Glenn Sauder (Marlboro), having just recently turned 50, topped the seniors' division. Sean Brennan (Grafton) was second among juniors. Mary Lammi (Spencer) was second among all females and was the first female master while placing 14th overall. Jackie Shakar (Worcester) finished third and JoAnn Shields (Millbury) was the second master. Laura Beckwith (Holden) and Marjorie Rosiello (Shrewsbury) placed 1-2 among seniors. Marjorie was also the first 60+ female. Among female juniors, Allison Arey (N. Grafton) and Sarah Clifford (Grafton) placed 1-2.
