Richard Bolt (Lunenburg) topped a field of 333 to win the 6th running of the Charity Five. Five other CMS runners finished in the top ten, including Jerry Learned (Hopkinton) who was the first master and 3rd overall, Brad Fors (Leominster), 4th overall, Mark Wigler (Hubbardston), 3rd master and 7th overall, Roger Nasatka (Gardner), 4th master and 8th overall, and Steve Bayley (Sterling), who at age 16 was 10th overall and the 2nd junior.
Bob Girouard (Fitchburg) and Peter Orni (Fitchburg) placed first and 3rd respectively among seniors, while Jim Daley (New Ipswich, NH), Paul McDermott (Fitchburg) and Angelo Seretto (Fitchburg) finished 1-2-3 in the veteran's division. Karen Palmer (Fitchburg), Karma Tousignant (Fitchburg) and Barbara McManus (Worcester) were 1-2-3 among all female competitors. Carol Allain (Leominster) and Dianne Van Voorhis (Ashby) were the first female master and senior respectively. Omitted from the results?
