| 3rd Annual Boston Cross Country Festival |
Winning both the men's and women's team competition, CMS dominated this club/college cross country meet. Making it all the more impressive is the fact that at the same time another group of CMS runners was on its way to yet an other first-place finish at the Fred Brown, Sr./Lake Winnipesaukee Relay.
The women's race began with overcast skies and temps in low 70's, but sun began to come through and it was bright and about 80 degrees for the men's race.
CMS Opens the Season Winning Both Men's and Women's Team Titles
On the same day that a CMS team was winning the Fred Brown, Sr./Lake Winnipesaukee Relay for the eight time in eight attempts, two young CMS cros country teams scored impressive wins in the first major cross country meet of the season - the Boston Cross Country Festival held at Franklin Park.
In the women's 5017 meter race, CMS took places 2, 3, 5, 9 and 10 to outrun Cornell University and five other club and college teams. Scoring were Mimi Corcoran, Jennifer Waeger, Amory Rowe, Amy Cashion and Stacey Mosley. If any two of the scoring five had faltered, CMS would still have placed first with its next two runners scoring - Sally Perkins, who placed 11th, and Jennifer Lincoln, who was 15th.Led by Rusty Snow, who finished second overall to Brandeis University sophomore Samson Yohannes, CMS also topped Cornell University in the men's 7935 meter run. In addition to Rusty, scoring were Jamalh Prince, Mark Mayall, Steve Kempainen and Maurits Van der Veen.
