Young Lisa Barthelson (Rutland) placed 18th in her class and finished ahead of over 1,000 athletes in this triathlon. Sue Young of Barre (now, there's a good name for a town, eh?) and Nancy Roberts ran way up in their age groups.  However, there was a major controversy as none of the officials believed the reported ages for Nancy, Sue, and Lisa.  Everyone believed they were at least ten years younger, if not more.  All three athletes had to provide multiple certifications of age.
