Last night was the season opener for the Newton Hill cross country race series.

Larry Pistrang was the first runner to finish the hilly 3-mile course; his winning time was 21:53. 13-year-old Brendan Whitson picked up 2nd place (22:37), without breaking a sweat! And the top female finishers were Carolina Vega (24:05) and Caitlin Forgit (24:30).

Thanks to Richard and Annette Lemerise and the Friends of Newton Hill for directing the race series. They've really outdone themselves this year -- along with the usual post-race refreshments and prizes, there's a free concert by a local musician after the run.

... The races take place every Tuesday night in August, so stop on by!
