Heather Gardiner topped all women, finishing 10th overall. Heather knocked nearly a minute off her 2nd place time from 2002.  Barbara McManus rolled home 3rd woman, 22nd overall. 218 runners toured Waterbury.  Thanks to Don Drewniak for the electronic heads up.   For those who make the trek from Massachusetts to New Jersey, the town of Waterbury is well known as one of those towns you fly through. 

 Proceeds from this race go to the Greater Waterbury YMCA Youth Scholarship Fund in memory of Al Fischang and Janice Cicchetti, who devoted a great deal of their time to the sport of running and the growth of this race. 

Waterbury is the home of 107,271 (2000 census) citizens of diverse ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds. Located at the junction of routes 8 and 84, it was known for its brass industry for many years. The BRASS MILL CENTER, a 150 store mall, now stands on the site of the Scovill Manufacturing Company, one of the three large brass mills that made Waterbury the "Brass Capital of the World".
