10,982 runners completed the half marathon.  4,910 men, and 6,072 women.  Hmmm....I wonder what that means.  

 Marty Ellowitz reported from the scene: " Hey, Web Guy  ran the half marathon at Virginia Beach labor day weekend! What a great event. Bands every mile rock concerts on the beach and a very fast course. Came in in a time of  129:46  over 11,000 finishers. thanks"    Top time in Marty's 45+ group was Herb Spicer in 1:18. Carol Ellowitz had too much fun, touring the course just under 3 hours. 

Kenyans took the top 9 spots, but there were some interesting performances behind them.  15-year old Patrick Griffin ran 1:31, followed by 12-year old Brandon Sheline in 1:38.  Yoiks!     Better yet, 14 year old Ashley Campbell ran 1:33, to win her division by nearly a half hour.
