Thanks to the heads-up from Uniquelypam@cs.com to point us to the Jacksonville Marathon. Jacksonville, where there is NO snow, the temperatures actually register above freezing, and that white stuff is not frozen, chunky-ice snow, but rather nice, warm sand on a nice warm beach in the nice warm sun. SIGH. Actually, it was 38F at race time, 58F at the finish, but this is Florida, where when the going gets tough, the tough get out their little sand shovel and beach buckets. And this is Massachusetts, where, when the going gets tough, the tough get All-wheel drive! Michael Silvia ran a very nice 3:17 to place 78th overall. Stan Vancelette rolled home in 350th place, and 5th in his age group. |
