Last year's winner, Mike Smith (Wachusett HS and Georgetown U) came home 2nd this time around. Rich Ovian (Worcester) was the top CMS finisher and second master, placing 6th overall. Charles Salmond (Fitchburg) was the 2nd CMS'er, 4th master and 8th overall. Paul Hargreaves (North Brookfield), 3rd CMS finisher, also cracked the top 10.

Karen McGahie (Boylston) cracked the top 10 and returned to the winner's circle, topping all women. This was Karen's fifth first place. Karen placed 2nd the last two years. Young Barbara McManus (Worcester) was the 2nd woman finisher, 14th overall. Cheryl Taylor (Worcester) was the 3rd woman overall.

Bob Girouard (Fitchburg) and Ken Lemerise (Charlton) were 1-2 in the 50+ group.

Laura Beckwith (Holden) topped the women's 50s field.

Otto Lies (Holden) and Karl Tuomivaara (Paxton) were 1-2 in the 60s group.

Joe Dora (Gardner) and Marjorie Rosiello (Shrewsbury) topped their 70s fields.

Lavoie 5 - Lemerise 4

In a fantastic show of support, the Lavoie family fielded 5 members in volunteer roles while the ever-present Lemerise family brought along 4 members.

Mike Smith was so impressed with this volunteer effort that he promised to shovel both the Lavoie and Lemerise driveways.

Mike ran right out and started shovelling.
