From the Sportshoe site:  The ninth annual Sportshoe Center Maine Marathon/Relay/Half Marathon featured gorgeous weather, a record number of 473 marathon entrants for all three races, another dominant performance by the man who shattered the course record last year, and an impressive debut marathon by the newest female star on the Maine road running scene.

Byrne Decker of Yarmouth, Maine, and Mya Mangawang of Brunswick, Maine, won their respective divisions in the full marathon. For Decker, it was business as usual, as he claimed his fourth Maine Marathon victory in five years with a time of two hours, 31 minutes and 24 seconds. Mangawang, meanwhile, zipped to a fifth-place overall finish as she clocked 2:57:48 in her first-ever marathon.

Decker, 33, again used this race as a training run for a marathon later in the fall -- this time the Dublin Marathon. He took it easy for the first half of the race and trailed Hamcha Moatacim of Dover, N.H., by nearly four minutes at one point, but he quickly closed the gap after the halfway point and moved into the lead by Mile 21. He eventually finished more than six minutes ahead of a fading Moatacim, who nevertheless held on for second place in 2:37:36.

Cheryl Pikora (Framingham) was the fifth woman overall, first in the 35 to 39 age group.    Cora Volchock (Watertown) slipped under 4 hours, finishing 173rd, and ahead of 300 runners. Hadley Austin Jr (Westport) came home 294th.
