David Dobrzynski (Franklin) blasted through this 5 miler, coming in 2nd overall and 1st master. Bill
Haskell (Sterling) came in 101st. Ken Robichaud (Brookline or BrokKilne, spelling eh?) was 120th. Ed Sato (Worcester) rolled in 154th, and 2nd in the "well-seasoned" (70+) age group. 181 runners completed the race. Can you dig it? This is advertised as a "for men only" race, with no gender-specific divisions. Wow. And this is the 21st century? From Dave LaBrode, race director, This is a men's race that we started as a tongue and cheek reaction to the Bonne Bell 10K [now the Tuft's 10K]. We think our event provides a fun time
to the runner. We like to think you can say to your wife 'do you want to come,' and if the answer is 'no,' you can then tell her 'I'll see you at five.' Our race is great but the fun doesn't stop after the running is over. We try and cover all the bases by offering things such as 4 heavywieght divisions making it a true Clydesdale event, middle of the pack awards, lots of age division awards, a buffet and much, much more. We even award a two year subscription to the Hockomock Swamp Rat to the first person who just missed winning an award. I guess you could say we even have an award for being a loser.
