(Individual NOTES) 
Women’s Open
Nikki Kimball Ran Northfield 8.2 mile (1800’ climb) NE Championship in which she placed second. 
Heather Gardiner
(AKA THE RACE QUEEN) kept to her usual racing regimen and had the following ranks...Bethel, CT 8k she took 1st., Enfield Independence day 5k 5th overall. Ashby park, NJ 10k 4th (35:52). She took 4th in Lil' Rhody 5k and first at the Smith College Summer Meet mile (5:11). I-leather placed 3rd at the Shelter Island 10k (35:28) and 1st on Branford Road Race 5m (29:24).

Carol Hurley ran the Southbridge 4.9 m race in 90+ degree weather and won it with a time of 30:34. She has won this race 3 times out of the last 5 years! Carol also won the Paxton Summer Solstice race. Veronica Kanga ran the little Compton 4.8 m took 4th female with a time of 29:29.
Debbie Barry and Lisa Wiita, two new CMS team members ran the Bema’s Great Legs 5k (all women race) and finished 7th (19:04) and 14th (20:46). They both belong to NMC as well. Debbie ran the Clarence deMar marathon last year in 2:57 and is looking to redo the race with a PR.
Women’s Masters
Marge Bellisle took 3rd in the Women’s Open 3000m with a time of 10:44.24 in the USATFNE Outdoor Championships.
Sidney Letendre ran Koury’s Summer Steamer and took 4th 26:04
USATFNE Grand Prix Results Lil Rhody 5K
CMS Women’s Masters team consisting of Marge Bellisle (18:45), Sidney Letendre (19:49) and Karen McGahie (19:49) claimed 3rd place overall. Marge and Sidney were also considered part of the Women’s open team along with Heather Gardiner (17:29), Barbara McManus (18:55) and Heather Wark (18:59) a PR for her. To date, their scoring is under review with USATFNE and is not official yet.
CMS Senior Women take 1st with Linda Usher  (22:53), Mary Ryczek (23:30), Noreen Blanchette (23:46) and Laura Beckwith (23:53) at the helm.

Veteran’s Division - Sheila Basque ran it in 31:23 along with her husband David who won his division in (37:13). Both are long time members of CMS

GRAND PRIX STANDINGS

2003 USATF.NE Grand Prix Championships


Four of seven events have been completed the CMS teams maintain with 237 points their lead in the series, but followed closely by their rival GREATER LOWELL ROAD RUNNERS with 215 points. 

WHIRLAWAY follows with 185.

 MERRIMACK 168. and BAA 140 points. The CMS men’s veterans team is in 1st place, and both the women’s and men’s senior teams are in 2nd place.

After the Lincoln 5k. which finished on the soggy wet sand dog track, the next two events were the longer distances in Bedford, NH arid Stowe, VT. Both days were rather hot with temperatures and humidity increasing during the races, the water stations were quite popular.

At the 20k Dan Verrington was in 3rd place and the top CMS finisher (1:07:42). Barbara McManus and Nikki Kimball were 2-3 in their age group. Jerry Learned came in 3rd in the seniors group. and Jim Daley and George Kasierski were 2-3 in the 60s age group.The men’s Senior team and the Veterans team both placed 1st, and the Women’s Open team and the Senior team placed 2nd.

At the Stowe 8 Miler Dan Verrington finished in 7th place overall and was 1st master (41:52). Heather Gardiner was the first woman finisher (46:18). Jerry Learned 3rd senior, and Jim Daley 2nd veteran. The women’s  Open. Seniors and the men’s Veterans teams all finished 2nd, and the men’s Senior team 3rd.
