MILITARY MEMBER SERVING OVERSEAS

JOE QUINN
, of
Leominster, is in the reserves and is currently serving in Iraq. His friend and fellow CMS member, David Tall, requested permission from his spouse to publish his military address for anyone wishing to send him a care package. The following information on Joe was provided by fellow CMS'er David Tall.

Joe been a CMS member for many years, has run marathons, local races and CMS summer series races as time allows. I know he usually runs Falmouth and finished in 52:45 in 2001. He is a Letter carrier in the Leominster area. He is in the Army reserves and has been stationed in Iraq since March. Originally to be home in September or October, it now looks like December. He is in a support unit, involved in supply of other units. His convoy has been attacked on several occa sions.

Temperatures have been in the 130’s and as high as 150 some days. But the worst part is the sandstorms. There are 3-4 sand- storms a week. Picture a blizzard, but with sand instead of snow and it’s 130 degrees.

A care package can consist of almost anything except pornography & pork products. M & Ms have survived in the heat. Any small package of food or candy that they can put in a pocket and eaten is welcome. Twizzlers, nuts, cookies etc. Powdered drink mix (Hi -C, Gatorade, Kool Aid) to flavor the water is also good. Toiletries are also welcome such as sunscreen, bug spray.

His address is
