I have exciting news, and you are a part of it. Over a year ago, I asked you to complete the following sentence.
What I have learned from running is..........
I asked you to include your age in the response. My intention was to submit it to Runner's World for possible publication. Well, I submitted it, and, after a very long wait, it is being considered for publication in a special Millennium issue, which will be available in January, 2000.
For those of you who were around, and responded, thank you. All your responses have been forwarded to Amby Burfoot, Senior editor. He has asked me to get more responses to add to the compiled list, so.....whether you have already responded or not, I am asking you again. What have you learned from running?
Here are some examples from the last request, as examples.
What I have learned from running is that pain is nothing compared to how it feels to give in- Age 15
What I have learned from running is that it screws up a woman's cycle but it still can't be counted on as birth control- Age 30
What I have learned from running is that dogs are ace mathematicians when it comes to figuring tangents across a yard or field- Age 38
What I have learned from running is that I don't have to be the fastest to be the best - Age 47.
What I have learned from running is that I have never met a runner that I couldn't have instant, informative and gratifying conversation with-Age 62
It can be funny, serious, insightful. No limits, except please try to keep it to one or two lines. Your immediate response is requested.
Look forward to hearing from you soon.
