A Single Chance at a Million Wishes

I had completely forgotten about it until about a mile in to my run this morning. I saw a movement out of the corner of my eye.

I looked almost directly overhead, just in time to see the waning moment of a streak of light. Then I remembered. The Perseid Meteor shower was again upon us.

It's one of those events that nature lovers, wishers, and dreamers live for. I am elements of all three. I made my wish, quickly. It is a wish that I have wished before. Of course I can't share it at this time, for they say a shared wish will not come true, but I will say it has NOTHING to do with running. But it's one of those wishes that serves me well to renew whenever I am reminded.

This morning, there was no shower (except the one after my run.) I saw a solitary bright streak which prompted me once again to wish the wish I wish this morning. The meteor shower is supposed to peak tonight into tomorrow AM, so that's the running content of this post.

Tomorrow would be a wonderful morning to just once, get up, and get out early. It may be your single chance to make a million wishes. If you miss it, cheer up. There are other showers coming up between now and the end of the year. Check them out on this cool link. http://www.hmns.org/hmns/george/astrocal.html.

The message is as urgent as it ever has been. Carpe Diem. Carpe Viam. You can do them both on a single run.
