The battle for top honors went to Dave Krom, who topped Greg Senosk by a single stroke, 79 to 80. Dave's round, a masterpiece by usual CMS tourney standards, included three birdies, nine pars, four bogies and two double bogies. Greg had the day's only two, a birdie on the par three, 175-yard 14th. George Kasierski, one of six on the course along with Howard Bottomly, Don Drewniak, Craig McColl, Jim Murphy and Ron Senosk whose CMS roots go back into the 1970's, finished third with an 86.
Shots of the day were recorded by CMS president Rich Lemerise and Don Drewniak, playing in the same foursome. Both hit birdies on the par 4 seventh hole. Playing through a flock of wild geese, Rich hit one on his second shot and Don plunked another on his third. Both fowl were seemingly unhurt.
Readers should bear in mind that Don Drewniak often claims to be Robert Redford. (Just wait 'til he gets to the heat of Houston; the humidity will have him claiming to be the fifth Beatle). You will note that he now claims to be a resident of "The Woodlands, TX". Good grief, a Texan! Next thing you know, he'll claim to be a Houston Astros fan. Remember, these are the guys who play baseball INDOORs. Remember what your mom used to say...'stop playing ball in the house!' Gadzooks, he just might start talking with a Texas drawl...and wearing cowboy hats. Mercy! So, any claims to golf prowess should be taken with a grain of salt. Or a bottle of vino. Bartender...bartender....another round over here. Yowza!
John Grenier, former DG'er, rolled around the course in a creditable 95. Considering the recent business news, there just may be many more former DG'ers. Oh well, Grey Eagles, here I come!
Several "golfers" seemed to be under the impression that HIGH score wins. Yoiks! Clearly, had they known otherwise, they would have scorched the course. Oh well. Maybe next time. Fore!
It is absolutely not true that the fastest TIME from tee to green gets you a lower score.
