Leukemia Society of America's
Team in Training

July 24, 1999

The following email was received at CMS web.

Dear Friends,

You may or may not know me, but I contacted you for a cause that I believe in and that is worthwhile.

On Sunday, December 12, 1999, I will be running in the Honolulu Marathon (26.2 miles). I will do so as a member of the Leukemia Society of America's Team in Training. This is a group of individuals who have joined together to train for various endurance events while raising money to support local leukemia patients and research.

I am hoping that individual contributions will help me reach my goal and enable me to run the marathon. During the next six months before the marathon, I will log between 700-800 miles of running and many hours striving to reach my fund raising goal of $4,500. All of my training and fund raising efforts will be done in honor of a leukemia patient, introduced to me through the Leukemia Society of America. Together we will share a common goal: to overcome an uphill battle.

The running of a marathon will symbolize the ability of the human spirit to extend the boundaries of the human body. The national fund raising goal for the many Team in Training chapters in the United States is $6 million. The North Carolina Chapter of the Leukemia Society has committed to raise $250,000.

To reach my goal of $4,500, thus contributing to the national fund raising goal, I will require the help of people such as you.

If you wish to donate money, you can trust that it will be well spent. The Leukemia Society of America was ranked the #7 best run charity by Money Magazine in 1998. The Society provides approximately $7.5 million grants per year to more than 200 researchers in more than 80 institutions in the United States and abroad. If you would like to help me in this cause, please send a check, payable to the Leukemia Society of America, to my home address and I will forward it to the Society. You may also send your contribution directly to the Society, using the address listed below. If you do this, please note on the check that the sponsorship is for me, or you may simply address the mailing envelope to me in care of the Leukemia Society. If you wish, I can provide you with a self-addressed-stamped-envelope and some information about the Leukemia Society of America. Your contribution can be made on a mile basis or simply be an arbitrary amount. Regardless of the amount your contribution is very appreciated.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at jeff2791@earthlink.net Please forward this letter to any friends or associates. Everyone who sees this message counts.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
 Jeffrey C. Nazario
