Mount Washington

As some of you may already know, the Mount Washington Road Race (scheduled for Saturday, June 19, 2010) is once again the US National Mountain Running Championships this year. It is also the 50th Running  of the race and will be a special one for sure.  To compete in this race, you need to enter the lottery, which opens today.  It will last for 2 weeks.  At that point, you will NOT be able to get in

Important note: this will be the last year that Bob Teschek is the Race Director.  There is no guarantee that things won't change drastically after he departs ($200 entry fee?  No lottery by-pass?), so if you were EVER thinking about doing this race, this is the year to do it.

Also, if you think you have a shot to score on the team you MUST check "lottery by-pass" and "elite" and when asked why, you should state that they plan on scoring for CMS and winning the National title.  You will see details on this at the Lottery page: http://www.mountwashingtonroadrace.com/lottery.shtml when it opens on Monday (March 1).

In addition to being the US Championship this year, and the 50th running of the race, it is also the ONLY selection race to make the US Mountain Running Team for 2010

If you run this race, CMS will refund you the cost of the entry fee, as this is a team event.

CMS has won this race (as a team) more than any team in history (every year since 1992 except 2008).  The team record (owned by CMS) is from 2005 and is an incredible 5:17:59.  The CMS 40+ team is the reigning National champion team and the course record holder.

The lottery will be open for 2 weeks, but DO NOT wait (Andy).  If you miss the window for entering the lottery, you will NOT get in.
