Dave's Monthly Update

March 1, 2006
Dave Dunham

Hi All:

I hope everyone is having a great winter; it has been a bummer with the lack of snow in the Northeast.  We’ve only been able to sneak in seven snowshoe races so far this winter (we cancelled or postponed more than seven).    Here is what I did this month:

I got injured at the end of January, missed 6 days with a pulled calf muscle which hurt my mileage.  Weekly mileage = 8, 41, 56, and 60.  Total of 182 with 3 days off which is almost double last years Feb.!  Grand totals of 402 for the 2006 and 93,715 lifetime.

I helped out with the Atkinson race, which was run in a blizzard and put on the Northfield race @ Dubuque Forest which had very little snow.  Still hoping to have Northfield on March 11.  On the drive out to Dubuque my car hit 200,000 miles.  I also finished my book on the Mt Washington Road Race, it will be coming out shortly before the race (in June).

Races this month:

Date                 Location           Dist      Time                 Place                Name

02/12/06 Atkinson, NH            3.11      0:24:10.0          6          Frosty's Dash Snowshoe  2nd 40+

02/27/06 New Ipswich, NH     ???       0:51:48.0          1           Windblown Snowshoe Series

Looking ahead:

March should be a busy month.  I'm hoping to host a race on March 11 at Northfield.  I plan on racing every weekend if we have snow (and on the roads if we don't).  I'll be heading to the USATF 50K road championships on the 5th, but as the liaison not as a racer.  The big race this month will be the USSSSSSSSSA snowshoe championships at Bolton Valley on the 25/26th.  I'll also be in Lawrence on most Saturday's doing VITA (volunteer income tax assistance), so anyone in need of tax help just drop me a line.

Looking WAY back….
