Tom Borschel (Idaho Falls, ID) has been named the Junior Team Manager for the
2004 Teva US Mountain Running Team by the USATF MUT Council. Borschel will be responsible for leading the junior team at the 20th World Mountain
Running Trophy races September 4 and September 5 in Sauze d'Oulx, Italy. This will be the third year that the Teva US Mountain Running Team has fielded a
junior team and looks forward to selecting a strong group of young athletes again this year. More information on the 20th World Mountain Running
Trophy can be found at:

Borschel lives with his family, including two sons, and trains in Idaho Falls where he works for the
Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory and runs the single-track trails over nearby Kelly Canyon Ski resort.
"My favorite running workout is to do uphill time trials up regular courses nearby to compare with my
previous effort. That way I can access my relative fitness level," Borschel says.
Borschel, a frequent racer in Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and California, is working to run high-speed
mountain ascents to the high points of all Western States and has kicked ass on most of them already. In between peaks he runs super fast trail races, (he
has a thing for short vertical climbs) coaches kid's running and makes his own beer. He's won the Rendezvous Hill Climb in Teton Village six times and owns
the course and masters record, won the Teton Pass Hill Climb three times, won the Mt. Tamalpais Hillclimb in CA two times with a course record that has
stood for 17years, and won a host of other hill climbs, cross country races, road races, and snowshoe races.
"I love trail running for the multitude of color, the geology, the goose bumps of a breeze, the rasping
breath of altitude, the pounding symphony in my head, the delicate mosses, the intricate wildflowers, the raging cascades, dead aspen leaves floating, a
moose grazing, the panic of hurdling a sunning rattler, the white vertigo of running up a cornice in a cloud, the life and death of the seasons, exposing my
thoughts, emotions and fears..." says Borschel.
