 Finally,
a REAL use for all those computers at my house. If you can't run it, at
least you can track it. Track the Boston Marathon, that is. By
dialing up the BAA web site, I
am/was able to track the in-flight progress of the CMS Teams.
The CMS Men's Open
team included:
- Kevin Beck, 33, Concord NH
- Alan Bernier, 28, Newmarket, NH
- Fergus Cullen, 30, Rochester, NH (DNS)
- Kevin Fallon, 34, West Boylston, MA
- Daniel Gardiner, 30, Worcester, MA
- Rod Viens, 35, Sunapee, NH
- John Walsh, 36, Worcester, MA
- Paul Young, 37, Andover, MA
Some race notes:
A very serious Kevin Beck smoked the
first 5K in 16:15, a 2:17:33 pace. This can be a bit misleading because it
is just downhill enough to push you through a faster early pace. Rod
Viens was a bit more conservative in 17:12, a 2:25:24 pace. Dan
Gardiner (19:22) and Paul Young
(19:37) ran 3-4 for the team at the 5K.
Kevin continued to lead the team through 10K with 32:57, followed by Rod
Viens (34:50). Paul Young (38:25) took over 3rd man for the team, followed
closely by Dan Gardiner (39:33).
Things changed at the half, with Kevin retiring for the day. Rod Viens
took over as #1 man, with 1:15:59,. Paul Young continued to move up
for the team, running #2 in 1:22, followed by Dan Gardiner with 1:25 and Alan
Bernier 1:28.
At the finish, Rod Viens came home first for CMS, with 2:53:05, good
for 294th overall. Dan Gardiner was right behind in 2:58:05, 489th
overall. John Walsh moved up for #3, coming home in 4:10:34. Kevin Fallon
was #4 in 4:22:26.
