Don Drewniak IS, WAS, and will always be...CMS.

Until today (Saturday, October 7th), there had not been a day here in southeast Texas since back in April wherein the high temperature had not been at least 80 degrees

Today's high only reached a near-freezing 55. Making the conditions even  more brutal was the fact that it rained all day. This was the first time in  my thirteen-plus months here that I had simultaneously encountered both  cold and rain.

Given this, you would expect that I would have bagged my daily 30-minute run and spent the time by the fireplace.

Hey...I'll bet you can get in some speedwork under that porch overhang.  About 1,000 laps per quarter mile, eh?

Not so! It happens that about a half-mile from my house there is a school  which has an eight-foot overhang alongside about 3/8ths of its perimeter. I  was able to do my stretching in my garage, get into my car, drive to the school and park directly adjacent to the overhang.

While I could not do anything about the brutally cold, mid-50's  temperature, I was able to complete my thirty minute run (27 times back-and-forth under the overhang) without getting touched by a single drop of rain.
