At the north end of Central Park, Tegla Loroupe breaks away from pursuers Adriana Fernandez, Catherine Ndereba, and Fatuma Roba to produce a dominating win. No, that's not our prediction for the women's race at this year's New York City Marathon - it was Tegla's fifth win in the New York Mini, run last Saturday in Manhattan.

Sometimes you just seem to go stale and lose your ambition and motivation. To avoid falling into the trap of overtraining remember that a cycle of stress and rest is how your body best absorbs the effects of your training. ======== Health and Fitness ========

Can carbohydrates trigger a heart attack? The surprising answer is yes, but only if you're eating the wrong kinds. A recent study from Harvard Medical School finds that eating too many carbohydrates with a high glycemic index, such as rice and potatoes which digest quickly and are burned quickly for fuel, can raise your risk for heart disease. So unless you're fueling up with a quick snack before a run, eating during a run, or eating just after a run (when you need high glycemic carbs to quickly fuel your body), concentrate on more wholesome foods such as lentils, beans, and whole-grains.

Diabetes and running: If you have adult onset diabetes, exercise can burn your blood sugar levels to a dangerously low level, even four hours after your run. What to do? Guzzle a sports drink that contains some protein or a glass of whole milk as soon as you finish your run. In a study done at Penn State University, those two drinks worked best at keeping post-exercise blood sugar levels steady.

Marion Jones will compete in the long jump at Saturday's Pontiac Grand Prix at the North Carolina State University track in Raleigh. CBS will broadcast the meet on tape Sunday from 5 to 6 p.m. EST. Jones was the 100-meter gold medalist at the World Championships in 1997 and 1999 and the bronze medalist in the long jump in '99.
