 Interested in duathlons or triathlons?

Here’s how you can participate.

Send your name, address, phone, email, and date of birth to Sam Levitin at levitin@alum.mit.edu. This gets you onto Sam’s mailing list of CMS team members.

If you participate in triathlons/duathlons and want to receive the USA Triathlon discount, tell me you want to be on the CMS roster. This list is sent to USA Triathlon in Colorado. At your next renewal of your USAT membership, you get a discount. You also receive a discount at USAT-sanctioned events, like all the ones directed by FIRM and TimeOut Productions. The USAT 1-day license fee is $7, but FIRM continued to charge non-USAT members a $5 1-day fee. At other events, you will see a $7 1-day fee. Either way, it works out to be a money gain if you plan on competing at 4 to 5 multisports events per calendar year. You will entirely recoup your USAT membership fees in saved 1-day licenses. With your USAT membership you are eligible to be ranked nationally and you receive a voucher for taking your bike with you when you fly on American Airlines.

The FIRM Grand Prix, a series of about 10 events, offers athletes the opportunity to win money for placing within the top 5 in 5-year age groups among club members. To compete for CMS Multisports for 2002, you must be a member of Central Mass Striders (see member).

Independently of either of these 2 options, you can join the CMS discussion group at http://www.yahoogroups.com/groups/CMSMultisport. You sign yourself up on this mailing list, and everyone can use the distribution list there. The volume of mail traffic is low, but it’s potentially a good communication medium for arranging workouts, carpooling to events, and so on. We have no dues, no newsletter, no uniforms, no board of directors or elected positions, and no web site. (Can you imagine that...you are reading this on a web site, the CMS web site, but you have no web site...hmm... Must be a riddle) We have not yet successfully arranged group training events, though some of us take part in the biking time trials at Wachusett Cycle in West Boylston.

See also the CMS web site for group runs..
