From Suzanne Williams: The Women's NEWMAC Championships, held Saturday October 28th at Mt. Holyoke College, proved a challenge to veteran and rookie athletes alike. In a torrential downpour, 132 women traversed a course that was water logged (the rain had created streams and small ponds on the course) and badly torn up by the previous men's race. Times were slow and there were some torn tights and bloody knees from bad falls due to unstable footing, but these ladies fought on and everyone who competed could be deemed a winner for simply taking it on.
