NEWMAC Track&Field Championship

Team honors went to MIT with 178 points, followed by Springfield College with 148.  WPI was 5th with 58 points.

Daniel Gilbreath (David Prouty HS '02 and WPI '06) placed 9th in the 200 meters, zipping  23.25.  Zach Traina topped the field with a 22.41.  Dan needed a 23.14 to qualify for the New England DIII championships.

Matt Lech (David Prouty HS '02 and WPI '06) placed 7th in the 110 meter hurdles in 17.61.  16.34 gets Matt into the NE DIII tournament.  Matt also ran 1:03.40 in the 400 meter hurdles, which did qualify for the NE D3 championships.

Kevin Menard ( Leicester '00 and WPI '04 ) placed 4th in the triple jump, sailing 11.89m or 39'-00.25.  You need 42 feet to qualify for the NE D3 championships. Jeff Cogan of Springfield COllege topped the field with 42' 10/25"

Scott Proulx ( South '01 and WPI '05 ) placed 13th in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:27.65. You need 4:06 to get into the NE D3 meet.

Mike Swett ( South '00 and WPI '04 ) placed 15th in the 800 meters with a time of  2:12.24.  1:58.5 gets you into the NE D3 Meet.  Mike Flint of the USCG, qualified while winning the event in 1:58.44
In the women's competition, Wheaton topped the field with 166.5 points, WPI was 5th with 96.

Lindsay Bulso (Blackstone Millville HS '02 and WPI '06) placed 1st in the 100 meter hurdles qualifier in 15.13, which met the qualifier for both the NE D3 championships and the New England Open championships. Lindsay then eased through the finals in 15.26, winning by 3/4 of a second.

Lindsay also topped the field in the long jump, sailing 5.06m or 16-07.25, good for a NE D3 qualifier.  Lindsay also placed 3rd in the triple jump, clearing 11.06m or 36'-03.50", which also qualified for the NE D3 championships.

Kendra Leith ( Wachusett 2 and Wheaton 6 ) ran 2:33.51 for 10th in the 800 meters. Andrea Staid of MIT was 1st in 2:24.32. Kendra also placed 4th in the 1500 meters, clocking 5:03.25. Johanna Thomas of Mt Holyoke topped the field in 4:56.69.

Jayna McCarron (Lunenburg '03 and US Coast Guard '07) clocked  2:25.69 in the 800 meters, good for 3rd. Andrea Staid of MIT was first in 2:24.  Jayna needs 2:23.55 to qualify for the NE D3 championships.

Oly Wirtz ( Fitchburg '02 and Wheaton '06 ) clocked 1:05.67, good for 6th overall behind Smith's Tanya Nesbitt with 1:00.39.
