In the Women's competition, Maine squeaked over UNH 78.5 to 77, with BC third with 70 points.   On the Men's side, URI was first with 127 points, Southern Connecticut second with 105.

Ryan Agnew ( David Prouty 02 Bentley 06 ) a 4:33 high school miler,  ran  31:40.73 for 4th in the 10,000 meters.  
.
Dan Conti ( Quabbin 99 and Holy Cross 03 ) ran 14.91 for third in the 110 meter hurdles.  Dan then ran a season-best 14.69 for 5th in the finals.  Rhode Island's Colin Aina was first in 13.97.  Dan was recently named to the 2003 Men's Track and Field / Cross Country Verizon Academic All-American First Team. Conti became the first Holy Cross athlete to win First Team Academic All-America honors since women's basketball star Kathy Courtney was selected in 1997.  Conti placed 9th in the IC4A Decathlon out of 16 competitors entered in the field. An All-Patriot League selection in the 110 meter high hurdles, Conti placed second in the event at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships held at Bucknell. He also placed fifth in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles at the Patriot League championships. Conti then placed fifth at the New England Championships in the 110 meter high hurdles to qualify for the IC4A Championships in that event as well. 

He is the school record holder in the decathlon (6,625 points), the 110 meter high hurdles (14.68), the 55 meter hurdles (7.75) and the pentathlon (3,453 points). 

Conti was named the 2002-03 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Scholar Athlete of the Year and was named the 2001-2002 Patriot League All-Sports Scholar Athlete of the Year. He earned Second Team National Academic All-America honors last year. 

Outside of the athletic arena, Conti has recorded a 3.86 grade point average in mathematics and designs various web sites for companies as well as the Holy Cross team track and field web site. He also serves as an on-campus computer consultant and serves as a math tutor. 

The 17 athletes on the Verizon National Academic All-America First Team were selected from 80 athletes from eight different districts.

Mario Fraioli ( Auburn 00 and Stonehill 04 ) placed 12th with a time of  3:58.38 to qualify for the 1500 meter fiinals.  In the finals, Mario clocked 4:00.23 good for 5th place.  BU's Liam Revell was first in 3:58.47.  Eight runners finished within 4 seconds in a sprint to the finish.

Nate Jenkins ( Narragansett 00 and U Mass Lowell 03 ) placed second in the 10000 meters with a time of 31:25.74  Connecticut College's  Adam Fitzgerald took 1st with 30:53.77.

Mike Killam ( Groton Dunstable 00 and Bentley 04 ) placed 21st in the 5000 meters in  15:29.68.  Matt Emond of Brown was 1st in 14:34.34.  .

Matt LeMaire ( Northbridge '00 and Westfield State 04) ran  15.52 good for 13th in the 110 meter hurdles prelims. Matt needed 15.2 to qualify for the finals. 
Andrew McCarron ( Lunenburg 02 and U Mass Amherst 06 ) took third in the 10,000 meters with a time of  31:39.00. 
Sean McKeon ( Millbury 01 and Stonehill 05 ) placed 14th in the  3000 meter steeplechase in  9:42.28.  Justin Easter of Bates took 1st in 9:04.41.

Jonathon Murphy ( South 99 and U Mass Lowell 03 ) ran  14:50.51 in the 5000 meters, good for 10th overall.  
.
Matthew Swett ( South 00 and Worcester State 04 ) placed 18th  in the 110 meter high hurdles with  15.88.  Matt also ran 58.69 in the 400 meter hurdles, also good for 18th.  Southern Connecticut's Kenroy Woodhouse was 1st in the finals in 52.58.

Ellen Beth ( Wachusett '01 Bowdoin '05 ) anchored Bowdoin's 9th place 4x800 meter relay team to a 9:43.26 time.  Maine's 9:13.74 took 1st. 
Jana Bromell ( David Prouty 99 and Wheaton '03 ) placed 3rd with  56.23 in the 400 meter prelims.  Jana then ran 57.18n for 4th in the finals.  Wheaton's Amber James had the top time of 55.89.  Jana also ran the 2nd leg for Wheaton's 4x100 meter relay team that was DQed

Lindsay Bulso (Blackstone Millville HS '02 and WPI '06) placed 15th in the  100 meter hurdles prelims in 16.35.  15.70 made the finals, which was won by Wheaton's Noreen Kordziel in 14.36.  Lindsay also ran the second leg on WPI's 4x100 meter relay team.  The team ran to 7th in the prelims in 49.88, then clocked 49.8 for fifth in the finals.  Central Connecticut was 1st in 47.61.

Leighann Carpenter ( Wachusett 00 and New Hampshire 04 ) won the 800 meters in 2:13.50.  High School and College teammate Katie Litwinowich was 3rd one second behind. Leighann also ran the third leg of UNH's 4th place mile relay team (along with Katie Litwinowich), which clocked 3:55.13.  Central Connecticut was 1st in 3:51.81.

Marissa Clapp ( Murdock 00 and Springfield 04 ) placed fifth overall in the 1500 meters in  4:35.07.  Mary Proulx of Keene State was first in 4:28.2.  The 1500 meters featured a 2nd place by Katie Litwinowich (Wachusett HS and UNH),  and an eighth by Laura Smith (Wachusett HS and BC).   Marissa also ran leadoff for Springfield's 10th place 4x800 meters team, which clocked 9:49.67.

Amanda Dahlberg ( Gardner 01 and U Mass Amherst 05 ) ran 39:47.82 good for 13th in the 10,000 meters.  
.
Jenny Farrell ( Algonquin 02 and Bentley 06 ) a 4-time T&G All Star ran  18:56.29 in the 5000 meters, good for 22nd overall. Williams' Caroline Cretti took first in 16:54.97.

Elizabeth Gorecki ( Murdock 99 and U Mass Lowell 03 ) placed 19th in  1:06.32 in the 400 meter hurdle prelims. BU's Lauren Warman took the finals by 2+ seconds in 1:00.6.

Brandy Green ( Fitchburg 00 and U Mass Amherst 04 ) won the pole vault with a height of  3.75m or 12'-03.50".  Brandy topped the meet record by 1.5"   
.
Katie Litwinowich ( Wachusett 99 and New Hampshire 03 ), a sometime contributor to this very web site,  placed third in the 800 meters in  2:14.50, then doubled back to place second in the 1500 meters in 4:29.87.  Katie (don't call me Katherine!) also ran the second leg for UNH's 4th place 4x400 meter relay team, which came home in 3:55.13.

Elizabeth Long (Bromfield '02 and Rhode Island '06) ran  15.51 in the 100 meter not-so-high hurdles, good for 7th in the prelims.  Liz then dropped to 14.99 for 6th in the finals.  Wheaton's Noreen Kordziel was first in 14.36.  Liz also tried the 400 meter hurdles and came home 1:08.45, good for 31st overall.

Bethany Miczek ( Leicester 01 and Holy Cross 05) placed sixth in the heptathlon, collecting  3823 points.  BC's Christina Regan topped the field with 4,361 points. The heptathlon include the 100 meter hurdles,   high jump,  shot put, 200 meters,  long jump, javelin, and 800 meters.

Katie Murray ( Leominster '02 and New Hampshire '06 ) ran the 3rd leg of UNH's 12th place 4x100 meter relay team, which clocked 50.34. 
.
Laura Smith ( Wachusett 99 and Boston College 03) placed 8th in the 1500 meters in  4:40.84. 
Jill Thibodeau ( Oakmont '02 and U Mass Lowell '06) placed 15th in the 400 meter hurdles in  1:05.35.  Jill also ran the second leg on Lowell's 4x100 meter relay team, which placed 5th in 49.29 in the qualifier, then placed sixth in the finals in 49.80.  Jill also ran the third leg on Lowell's 4x400 meter relay team, which placed 8th in 4:02.14.

Cara Valeri ( Wachusett 02 and Boston College 06 ) another 4-time  T&G All Star recorded a DNF in the 10,000 meters.

Jennifer Vendetti ( Franklin 99 and Boston College 03 )  placed 10th in the 400 meters in 58.01.  Jennifer also ran the anchor leg on BC's second place 4x400 meter relay team, which clocked 3:52.62. 
.
Emily Winacoo ( Wachusett 02 and Holy Cross 06 ) ran the second leg of Holy Cross' 4x400 meter relay team which placed 9th in 4:04.98. 
.
Oly Wirtz ( Fitchburg '02 and Wheaton '06 ) clocked 26.31 in the 200 meter dash prelims, good for 15th. Oly also ran 59.87 in the 400, good for 18th overall. 
.
Allie Yanikoski ( Bromfield 02 and Bowdoin 06 ) who ran a 2:16 High School  880, ran the second leg of Bowdoin's 10th place 4x 400 meter relay team, which clocked 4:05.28.  Allie also ran leadoff for Bowdoin's 9th place 4x800 meter relay team, which clocked 9:43.26.
