9 qualifying races were conducted.  Some highlights:

In the West regional, Stanford women was the top qualifier, although Ari Lambie (Bromfield School, Stanford) was not on the team.  That's ok, because you can still run in the Nationals if you missed the regionals.  Lets hope this is just a case of resting a young talent.

In the Mid-Atlantic regional, Tristan Colangelo (Gloucester '00, Princeton '04) was third-place Princeton's top man and 9th overall.  Chris Carvelli (North Middlesex '00 and Lasalle senior) was 5th man, 81st overall.

In the Southeast regional, Shalane Flanagan (Marblehead and North Carolina) topped the field and led a parade of North Carolina teammates across the line.

And here's a curious mystery:  Natasha Roetter (Lexington '02 and Duke) is the  former Mass state HS champion who stepped off the track while leading the 2 mile at the state High School championships at Worcester State in June 2002.  It appears that Natasha never competed again.  Until a runner named Natasha Roeth of Duke showed up in 32nd.  There is no one named Natasha Roeth listed on the Duke roster. Hmmm.
