Penn State National Open

Penn State hosted the Penn State National Open.  Massachusetts high school distance runners showed up.  


Franklyn Sanchez, (Lynn Tech and  Georgetown) recorded a  DNF in the 5000 meters.  Franklyn is the Massachusetts indoor high school 2 mile record holder. 

 Mike Smith, (Wachusett HS and  Georgetown junior) clocked 14:31.35, finishing 10th in the 5000 mneters.  Serious runners were entered in this one, with Ben Cooke of Georgetown Track Club topping the field in 14:02.64

Bill Spierdowis (eastern Mass  HS and  Duke senior). clocked a nifty 4:10.24 in the mile to top the field by a second. Bill is a former Mass State HS 800 champ and 1000 national indoor champ.
