This is an interesting competition.  Everyone shows up on the same weekend, in the same place, and runs the same course.  Only, they do not necessarily compete against each other. The meet was split into a total of six races, three (blue, white, and open) on both the men's and women's sides. All events were 8000 meters for the men and 6000 meters for the women. Colorado (white) and Central Michigan (open) won the other two men's races. On the women's side, top-ranked Brigham Young swept the women's blue and open races. Stanford led all schools at this blue run.  The entire 2-day show was hosted by Indiana State University (Larry Bird's old school).
In the Men's Blue event: Former Maine HS'er Louis Luchini, who competed at the Reggie Lewis Arena in the HS 2 mile championships (and finished 2nd), ran as #4 man for Stanford, finishing 7th overall in 24:03.  Teammate Grant Robison was 1st in 23:47.  It was a near-blanket finish, as the top 9 runners finished inside 20 seconds.
#3 man for Dartmouth was former western Mass HS'er Neal Graves, finishing 70th overall.  Neal won the Mass State HS XC championships at the Tufts Vet School course in Grafton, Mass.
Top man for Princeton was Gloucester HS grad Tristan Colangelo, placing 38th overall in 24:50.  Tristan was part of the lengthy XC state meet winning streak compiled by Gloucester HS.  He had the challenging happenstance of competing at the same time as Oliver Ames' sub 4:10 HS miler Andy Powell.
Mike Smith (Wachuestt High and  GEORGETOWN) was 2nd man for GU, 12th overall in h in Sunday's "white" race, with a time of 24:22. Colorado swept 1-2-3 with Jorge Torres, Steve Slattery (New Jersey HS), and then Ed Torres.  Jorge ran 23:34.8 for 1st. Franklyn Sanchez (Lynn Voc) did not run.
In the Women's 6K BLUE race:
Eastern Mass HS'er Shalane Flanagan (North Carolina) was the top finisher, coming home in 19:56.5.
Close behind Shalane was the Milton HS twins Kate O'Neill, 2nd, and Laura O'Neill, 5th.  The O'Neill's compete for Yale.
Julie Spolidoro (eastern Mass HS and  Boston College) was 33rd overall, #1 for BC.  Wachusett's Laura Smith did not run with the 7-man travelling squad.
Katie Litwinowich (Wachusett HS and New Hampshire) was 183rd overall, in 22:54.4.  Katie was #3 for UNH.
Eastern Mass HS'er Molly Landreth (geez, that name sure sounds familiar) was #2 for Penn State, placing 61st overall.
