New Hampshire Quadrangular Meet
September 6

UNH, Providence, Maine, UMASS. The UMass team was led by Andy McCarron's (Lunenburg, UMass) 27th-placefinish. He finished the 8-K race in 27:27. Mike Ahearn (St John's, UMass) was 30th in 27:38. Paul Noone finished 34th in 27:44, Ryan Bourque was 37th in 27:54followed by Matt Clark 28:14 in 38th place.


Georgetown Invite

Mike Smith Georgetown University (Wachusett '98) ran 25:34.60 for 2nd place in the Georgetown Invite. LucasMeyer of Yale was 1st in 25:21.


Central Connecticut State Invitational

In the Central Connecticut State Invitational at Stanley Quarter Park inNew Britain, Conn. Laura Smith ran 4th place with 17:54. Cara Valeri (Wachusett '02) also ran well in 18:58 in 14th place.


St. Michael's Invite
9/7/02

The Assumption College Women's team won the race against the likes of St.Michael's, Maine Farmington, Nyack, Lyndon State,  So. Vermont and JohnsonState.   4th was Caitlyn Clark (Fr., Worcester, MA/St. Peter-Marian) in 21:33.5 Julie Durkin was 14th (So., Townsend, MA/North Middlesex) in 22:41.8A place behind Ms. Durkin was Gina Valentine (So., Shrewsbury,MA/Shrewsbury) in 22:52.2Other Assumption runners were Lisa Paciello (Jr., Worcester, MA/St.Peter-Marian) who finished in 23:39.9,   Kate Saba (Fr., Shrewsbury, MA/Shrewsbury) in 23:42.2, and Theresa Barrett (Jr., Blackstone, MA/Blackstone-Millville) in 25:40.0

On the men's side...Matt McDonald of Assumption (Sr., Blackstone, MA/Blackstone-Millville) was 4th in 29:02.3 Steve Rice of Assumption (Sr., Shrewsbury, MA/St. John's) ran 42nd place in 34:38.4


UNH Invite

At the UNH Invite 5-K, Laura Smith of Boston College (Wachusett '98) won the women's race in 19:37.

I n the men's 8K, Dave Hughson of Uconn(N. Middlesex, '02) ran 43rd place in29:16. Shawn Wallace of BC won it in 25:28.


UMass vs. UVM and UMaine
September 14

Forming the Central Mass Alumni contingent, several UMass runners completed an intense 4.5 mile race at Totman Field. Sophomore Andy McCarron (Lunenburg, UMass) was eighth in 24:56.Junior Mike Ahearn  (UMass, St. John's ) placed 12th in 25:02.  Freshman Paul Noone (Worcester) 14th in 25:13. Sophomore Josh Williams (Athol) 16th in 25:18. Sophomore Matt Clark (Worcester, St. John's) placed 22nd in 25:40. Junior Ryan Bourque (Fitchburg) was 28th in 26:04

Katie Litwinowich (Wachusett '99, UNH)  finished the women's 5K in 9th place in 20:47.


ST. Anselm Invitational
(Manchester, New Hampshire)

The women's Assumption Team scored 2nd place in the St. Anselm Invite. Caitlyn Clark (Fr., Worcester, MA/St. Peter-Marian) finished 12th 21:06; Julie Durkin (So., Townsend, MA/North Middlesex) kicked in 28th in 22:26; Gina Valentine (So., Shrewsbury, MA/Shrewsbury) was 29th in 22:30; Lisa Paciello (Jr., Worcester, MA/St. Peter-Marian) ran 23:21. Kate Saba (Fr., Shrwsbury, MA/Shrewsbury) ran 23:36. Theresa Barrett (Jr., Blackstone, MA/Blackstone-Millville) ran 23:46.

The men's Assumption Team scored 3rd place in the St. Anselm Invite. Stonehill College won the meet. Louis Cote (So., Worcester, MA/South) was 8th in 28:41.1 5th was Matt McDonald (Sr., Blackstone, MA/Blackstone-Millville) in 29:52. Kevin Cusack finished 17th (Fr., Braintree, MA/Braintree) in 30:36.In 48th was Steve Rice (Sr., Shrewsbury, MA/St. John's) in 34:11. Sean Marshall (Jr., Worcester, MA/St. Peter-Marian) finished in 38:59. Mario Fraioli of Stonehill (Auburn HS, '00) won the race in 27:44.


Amherst Invitational 8K

In the Amherst Invitational 8K, Trinity College led the pack with 23 points over USCGA, Amherst, Keene St, USM, Roger Williams, UMassD, Babson and WNEC. Ryan Bak of Trinity won in 25:55. Jonathan Drappi (St John's '01) finished 4th in 26:58 and James Sullivan (Wachusett'01) was close behind for 6th in 27:13. A week later, James finished 6th in 16:24 in Bantam XC Invite 5K.

Hayseed Classic

Dan Savukoski (Fitchburg) running for Fitchburg State College finished 15th in 28:33.8.
