Mike Wyman (David Prouty HS and Worcester State frosh) placed second in the Long Jump with 22'08.0". Jason Edwards of Eastern Connecticut was first with the exact same distance, but a longer second jump. Mike came back to place in a four-way tie for 5th in the high jump, clearing 5' 9". And, since he already was warmed up, Mike came back to place sixth in the 100 meters final in 11.60. Stanley Egbor of WSC was first in 10.72. But wait, Mike came back in the 200 meters to place seventh in 23.15. Stanley was first in this one also, with 21.22.
Vinnie Ferrecchia (Assabet Valley HS and Westfield State soph) took 1st in the Javelin Throw with a toss of 183' 10.0". Vinnie won by over 15 feet.
Keto Sysong (Leominster HS and Fitchburg State sophomore) placed 8th in the 10,000 meters in 37:36.8. Brendan Lynch, U Mass Boston, took first in 33:37.61. Keto came back in a difficult double, running tenth in the 5000 meters with 18:05.91.
When was the last time you saw this hurdles double: 3,000 meters and 400 meters? Jason Pappas (Fitchburg HS and Westfield State Junior) topped the field in the 3,000 meters steeplechase in 10:05.38. Jason won by 12-plus seconds. Jason doubled back in the 400 meter hurdles to place sixth in 1:00.84. Matt Collins of Westfield State was first in 55.69.
Russell Trottier (Northbridge HS and Bridgewater State frosh) placed 3rd in the 3,000 meters steeplechase in 10:23.23. Russ doubled back in the 1500 meters, placing 13th in 4:37.06. Mark Miller of Keene State topped the field in 3:57.71.
Eric Nygard (Narragansett HS and Westfield State junior) placed 11th in the 800 meters in 2:07.68. Kevin LaCoste of Westfield State (and Athol, MA), was first in 1:58.46.
Andrew Gallivan (Doherty HS and Worcester State frosh) placed 3rd in the 5000 meters in 16:12.78. Arthur Sliva of Bridgewater State ran away with 15:32.72.
Jessica Corriveau (Tantasqua HS and Westfield State senior) placed 5th in the long jump, sailing 13' 8.0". Joyelle Galli of Rhode Island College was first with 15' 6.0". Jessica also placed 6th in the triple jump, with 28' 2.5". Joyelle won this one also with 31' 10.5". Jessica then tried the track, placing first in the 400 meters in 59.89, winning by over a second. And, for good measure, Jessica placed second in the 200 meters in 27.00, behind Dapheney Jean-Baptiste's 26.68.
Diana Cares (Algonquin Regional HS and Westfield State senior) placed 1st in the 10,000 meters in 41:05.17, winning by over one minute. Diana doubled back to place third in the 1500 meters in 5:11.91. Mary Proulx of Keene State was first in 4:54.47.
Melissa Merrow (Groton-Dunstable HS and Westfield State senior) placed seventh in the 800 meters in 2:38.47. Rhalda Jansen of Fitchburg State was first in 2:25.59. Melissa came back to place second in the 3000 meters in 11:22.7, 14 seconds behind first place.
Kim Toupin (Blackstone Millville HS and Fitchburg State frosh) placed 7th in the 400 meter low hurdles, clocking 1:19.27. Andrea Petrolini of Westfield State was first in 1:11.04.
