Wesley Shaw, St John's Prep and Northeastern, placed first in the Pole Vault with a leap of 16' 0.5" in the December 11 meet. BU was fourth of five teams. Another foot and Wes will be a provisional qualifier for the NCAA indoor T&F championships. Another 2 feet and he will be an automatic qualifier.
Sean Murphy, also of St John's Prep and U Mass Amherst, placed sixth in the mile run at the December 4th 9-team meet. Sean ran 4:17.7, behind Kyle Schneck's winning 4:09.18. Sean then placed twelfth in 9:02.14 in the 3,000 meters in the December 11 meet.
Mike Dolan, another St John's Prep grad, now at Providence, placed 20th in 4:40.71 in the same 9-way meet.
Kevin Horgan, Oakmont HS and University of New Hampshire, senior, took first in the 3000 meter run in 8:23.29. 8:12 is the provisional NCAA qualifying time, 8:01.5 is the automatic qualifying time. laced 20th in 4:40.71 in the same 9-way meet.
