Kevin Horgan (Oakmont HS  '96 and University of New Hampshire Senior) placed fourth in the season opener losing effort against Providence in Durham New Hampshire September 3. Kevin ran 25:34 and was 2nd man for UNH on their home 8,000 meters course.

UNH then placed third behind  Iona and  BC, and ahead of UConn,  and UMass Amherst on September 10 in the rain at Franklin Park, Boston, MA.  Kevin was top man for UNH, placing third overall, in 25:16.

The PC men's team (18 points) defeated the UNH Wildcats (33) by capturing five of the top nine spots. Competing without the services of 1998 All-American Keith Kelly (Drogheda, Ireland), the Friars were paced by sophomore Dermot Galvin (Kilrush, Ireland), who finished first in a time of 24:54. Also scoring for the Friars were sophomore Paul Reilly of Loughrea, Ireland (second - 25:27), junior Ciaran Lynch of Limerick, Ireland (fifth - 25:45), freshman Tyler McCabe of Mystic, Conn. (sixth - 26:02) and freshman Tim Curran (St John's Prep 99 and  Providence College Freshman) from Northboro, Mass. (ninth - 26:11).

Kate Litwinowich, (Wachusett 99 and UNH Frosh  placed 14th overall and was 2nd UNH finisher as BC and UMass-Amherst beat the UNH women September 10, in Franklin Park.

Meanwhile, at Dartmouth, we have the following snippet: "Most telling in the Big Green's return to prominence are the junior duo of Kelly Keene and Erin Dromgoole (Millbury 97 and Dartmouth Junior)  The pair shown as freshmen -- Keene finished runner-up at the Heptagonal meet, while Dromgoole followed up a fifth-place finish at the Heps by placing 37th at the NCAA's. Last year, though, both were bitten by the injury bug and could not compete during the championship meets. If they are healthy, expect to once again see their names near the top at most races."
