Westfield State
found on the www.coolrunning.com web siteEric Nygard (Narragansett HS and Westfield State) placed 14th in the 800 Meters, in 2:11.23 in the Alliance Championships/ Lilttle East / MASCAC held at Westfield State on Saturday April 24. Scott Jensen of Keene State took first in 2:00.16.
Another former Narragansett HS'er, Jason Caisse, now at U Mass Dartmouth, placed 10th in the 10,000 Meters in the MASCAC competition. Jason ran 37:43. Scott Singleton of Keene State took first with 32:57.2.
Kelly Hughes (Wachusett HS) placed second in the 10,000 Meters (no time reported) in a meet at Northeastern University on April 17.
Kevin Horgan (Oakmont HS) and Tim McCormick (Townsend MA, North Middlesex HS?) competed at the Drake Relays. Horgan, McCormack and teammates Chisolm and Schneck placed seventh in the distance medley, with a school record of 9:49.35.
UNH, anchored by a 1:53.7 800 meters from Kevin Horgan, came back with a 3:33.65 in the Sprint Medley. Schneck clocked 48.9 for the 400 meter leg.
Jillian Croft (Gardner HS) won three events at the Aloha Relays held at Bowdoin College April 17. Jillian took the high jump with a leapn of 5' 6.25", the 100 Meters with a time of 12.37, and the 200 Meters in 25.70.
Joe Sans (Narragansett HS) took the 5000 Meters in 15:52.99 in a dual meet between U Mass Lowell and Bowdoin on April 17.
Mary Cobb (Western Mass HS, Mass state mile champ) finally resurfaced at the Drake Relays, running the second leg of the 4x800 meter relay on April 26. Mary' clocked 2:11.6 as her Stanford team placed fourth in 8:45.37. Maurica Carlucci, from Eastern Mass, ran the third leg in 2:11.9.
Mary then returned for the Distance Relay to run the 800 meter leg in 2:12.5, as her team (Stamps, Pace, Glynn) placed third in 11:27.3.
Craig Lefort (Northbridge HS) placed 8th in the 10,000 Meters at the April 17th Metropolitan Championships in a time of 32:48. Craig's Columbia teammates placed 1-2 and 5. And this is the school against which I earned my College Letter by placing second in the two mile back in the days of board tracks. Egads!
