JILL CROFT NECC ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
The University of Massachusetts - Lowell women's track team had a super showing as it finished second at the 1999 NECC Championship Meet at Southern Conn. UML took six first place finishes and Jill Croft (Gardner, MA) was named NECC Rookie of the Year. She won the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.98. She was also victorious in the long jump, with a distance of 18'8.75.

Karla Jarquin (Shrewsbury High School) earned All-New England Division III honors following her top 35 performances at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Regionals held at Babson Park on November 14. Jarquin placed 33rd place with a time of 18:59 over the 5,000-meter course.
UMass Dartmouth's men's team finished 24th overall in the NCAA Division III Cross Country Regionals at Babson Park on November 14. Jason Caisse (Naragansett HS and Baldwinsville, MA) was third man (28:46, 140th)

The UMass Dartmouth Corsairs placed 21st from a field of 33 teams at the ECAC Championships held November 7 in Grafton, MA. Jason Caisse (Naragansett HS)was third man and finished 99th in 29:26.
October 31, 1998
UMass Dartmouth's women's cross country team captured its first Alliance Championship, along with its sixth Little East Conference championship, at the second annual LEC/Alliance Championships, held Oct. 31 at Westfield State College.
Karla Jarquin (Shrewsbury, MA) placed third as the Corsairs topped the five-team Little East Conference field with 29 points and captured the Alliance championship, which is a combined event with both Little East Conference and teams from the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference. In the 11-year history of the LEC championships, the Corsairs have captured six women's titles. Jarquin (3rd, 19:16) also earned repeat All-LEC honors.
In the men's LEC championships, the Corsairs placed third overall. Jason Caisse (Naragansett HS) was third man and finished 19th at 28:34.
October 13, 1998
Competing in the annual New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, UMass Dartmouth finished 29th overall and 11th among the Division III teams competing in the event. Karla Jarquin (Shrewsbury, MA) was the Corsairs' top runner, covering the 5,000 meter course in a time of 19:06 for a 96th place finish.
UMass Dartmouth men raced to a ninth-place team finish (of 14 teams) at the annual James Earley Invitational held in Westfield, MA on Oct. 17. Jason Caisse's (Naragansett HS) was third man with a 42nd place finish in 28:57.
October 6, 1998
UMass Dartmouth placed eighth from a field of 19 teams at the Albany State College Invitational on Oct. 10. Karla Jarquin (Shrewsbury, MA) helped the Corsairs' team scoring with a 28th place finish in 20:04 (2nd team).
Coach Jon Hird's men's team placed 14th overall in a 22-team field of the men's division at the Albany State Invitational. Jason Caisse (Naragansett HS) was fifth man and (114th overall in 29:29).
Sept 21, 1998
The Corsairs placed fourth overall from a field of 14 team in the annual Codfish Invitational held in Boston on Sept. 26 . Karla Jarquin (Shrewsbury, MA) was 27th overall and third team in 20:16.
On the men's side, UMass Dartmouth finished 13th from a field of 17 teams. Jason Caisse (Baldwinsville, MA) was fourth man and placed 88th in 29:05.

UMass Dartmouth's women's cross country team placed fourth among a field of 17 teams at the 26th annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 19. 13th place and second UMD finishers was Carla Jarquin (Shrewsbury, MA).
Sept 5, 1998
Karla Jarquin (Shrewsbury, MA) turned in a 10th place finish in 20:37 for 5K to place second for the Corsairs, who placed second in the annual Amherst College Invitational on Sept. 12.
In the men's race at the Amherst College Invitational, Jason Caisse was third man (Baldwinsville, MA, Naragansett HS) (32nd, 30:18)
