Marjorie RosielloThe Central Massachusetts Striders is a non-profit organization based in Worcester, Massachusetts dedicated primarily to the sport of long-distance running, including recreational/fitness jogging, road racing, cross-country, trail running, track racing, competitive race walking and multisport activities.  Multisport activity includes triathlons, duathlons, cycle racing and swim meets.  CMS encourages endurance athletics as a basis for fitness and training for competition.  Our athletes compete at all levels from international marathoning to the completing of a first road race.
Bring the whole family! The charter of the Central Massachusetts Striders is to promote health and fitness as a lifestyle among our membership and to introduce this lifestyle to the communities in which we stage events.

CMS is a member of the Road Runners Club of America and USATF-New England.

We are the largest and most active running club in New England - our membership tops out each year at over 1,000 members - and while centered in and around Worcester, MA, our members come from all over New England (with a few in other states).

CMS maintains and supports several racing teams at various levels and accepts commercial sponsorship in the form of equipment and funding for traveling expenses for athletes who represent the club. Each year CMS sends teams and individuals to races throughout New England, the US and the world. Any CMS member capable of meeting the requirements of a racing team is eligible for benefits extended to that team.

Our racing teams are known throughout the area and have distinguished themselves in races around the country as well. Individual CMS members have achieved tremendous success regionally, nationally and even internationally. We are proud of our accomplishments and hope to continue to grow bigger and stronger as a club in the future.

CMS is primarily a volunteer organization.  "Participation keeps us going" is the CMS motto and it applies equally to participating as a volunteer at a club race or function, as well as it does to participating in a race as a competitor.  This is democracy at its purest, and members are invited and encouraged to get active.  If you are willing, help is always needed.  Remember, events don't happen without volunteers.

CMS is governed by a board of directors, eight of whom are elected. Others serve on the Board by virtue of the functions they perform for the club. Any member age eighteen and above may run for election to the Board. Elections are held annually in June.
