| "Do Not Pass?" Do NOT Pass? Geez, Tim,
give the rest of the pack a break. Hey, wait a minute. Everyone else is going the other way. Hmmm. What does first-placer Tim know that the others do not.

Nick Anastasi has earned both the Polar soda and RC
Cola. Nick has completed 94 races so far this year. 94...in five months-plus.
Nick averages better than three races each week. That is why Nick, who is actually 97 years old, looks about 20. |
| Ed Sato decides to follow Nick's lead by going for
two beverages, both Polar. With temperatures in the 80s, this was obviously the
smart move. Ed, next time, toss the cans out, take off your shoes, and stick your toes in the ice water. Now that's brisk! |

Russ Syrjala approaches the finish
line. Russ is calculating his pro forma finish time. Pro forma times
are similar to wind-chill calculations. You have to adjust for the temperature and
humidity. Let me see if I can help Russ. 26:41, less one minute for every ten degrees, and another minute for every 10 percent humidity, that makes...umm, fourteen, carry the one, ...12:41 for a 5K. Not bad. |
| Straight from the cover of Runners' World, David Tall, cruises through his 5K. David ran a nice time, but would have run faster had he not been weighed down by membership in two running clubs. Eh? | ![]() |
