1998 CMS 5K Series Race #15 (Cross Country)

West Boylston, MA, April 11, 1998

For the past several years, the CMS 52-Week 5K Series switched from being run on Saturday mornings to Wednesday evenings at the beginning of April. However, many of the April Wednesday evening races ended up being held on cold and rainy evenings. Therefore, this year CMS decided to continue the races on Saturday mornings through the month of April, but to switch the venue from the October through March Worcester course to a newly created West Boylston cross country course.

What the CMS "brain trust" forgot in so doing was that the club was committed to the timing and scoring of Jeremiah's Inn 5K in Worcester on the same day - April 11th - as the second of the 5K cross country runs. And so, CMS ended up having to utilize two crews, one to time and score the West Boylston race which started at 9:00AM and the other to do the Worcester race which began at 10:00AM.
