It could have been a perfect race - decent weather, lots of runners, lots of new participants - but instead we saw the return of the Evil Rodent From Nowhere. Previously described as a chipmunk in 2003 when it attacked David King, this time the protean rodent appeared as a squirrel and was the final straw in discouraging a contingent of Ayer middle-schoolers from completing the race. To Ayer's fine young people: We hope you come back again! The Evil Rodent only appears once every 3 years!

Greg Ward just blew everyone else away with a run in 16:30.
