True story:

Early in the week, we knew that the usual Race Directors for this event would be unable to attend -- Kevin and I had commitments to work at other races. So we asked around for someone to serve as substitute RD. There wasn't much time; we were a little desperate.

Kim Wamback was the first to step up: she was pretty certain she could volunteer at the race and be in charge, but not 100% sure. A couple of days later, Kevin had a conversation with Ken Deary who said he'd be happy to be in charge. And that same day I swapped emails with Annette Lemerise who said she could be in charge.

So on the morning of the race, as each of these volunteers arrived at the Worcester State Gym lobby they announced "Everything is under control, I'm in charge."
