This week it was John Kinnee's turn to win the men's 5K race (18:36). John was running stride-for-stride with Charlie Salmond (18:40) for the first 3 miles of the race [... because Charlie knows the course map!], and when the Finish Line was in sight then John turned on his winning kick. Peter Wojtas came in a very strong third, with a time of 19:09. Sau-Mei Leung remains unbeatable: in the women's race she has 3 victories out of 3 starts, and she's now lowered her own course record to 24:33. Last night's victory was especially memorable, as she sprinted past first-veteran Bernie Jensen in the closing stretch with absolutely no mercy. The Over-Achiever Award goes to Sarah Fullen, our long-time volunteer who was so happy to be running
in the 5K race last night, that she took the scenic route and covered a distance more like 6 or 7 miles! |
