CMS 52-Week 5K Series Race #11

Worcester State College
Worcester, MA
March 19, 2005

A busy, eventful week here at the CMS 5K Series.

Dan Navaroli drove down from Leominster to compete in our weekly road race, and he didn't disappoint: he ran the Worcester State loop in a time of 16:45, good for first place overall and the season's fastest time. In the women's race it was Alice McKeon (21:24), scoring her 4th victory of 2005.

The 5K Summer Series will be held in Devens (formerly called Fort Devens), at Roger's Field. Races are Wednesday evenings, starting April 13 at 6pm. Registration begins 5pm.

Driving directions: Take Route 2 -- East or West -- to Exit 37B. Take Exit 37B onto Jackson Road and into Devens. Follow Jackson Road for a few miles until Roger's Field appears on the left, then turn left at the intersection onto Buena Vista Street. Follow Buena Vista Street a few yards, then turn right into Vicksburg Square and park in the lot behind the buildings (not on the street).

Race course: a 2-mile loop on Jackson Road and Sherman Avenue, followed by a 1.1-mile loop around Roger's Field.

Registration is at Roger's Field just across from Vicksburg Square. (In case of rain, go to the gazebo on the opposite side of Roger's Field.) The facilities for bathroom/changing are sparse: only porta-potties, sorry.

... In the coming weeks we'll be updating the web page of the CMS 52-Week 5K Series to include more information about Devens, including a downloadable map.

If you have any questions about the 5K Summer Series, please send an email to Kevin Fallon or Joe Alfano. Thanks!
