The temps were down, the humidity was up, and there was whole lotta road construction making for an interesting night at the races. |

UMass Amherst running team pals, Paul Noone and Andrew McCarron, helped pace each other through the gauntlet of black top and dirt road challenges. Coming in at 16:03, one wonders if Paul Noone wasn't hurdling through the construction faster than most of the cars. Also making it look easier than the road conditions lead one to believe was Andrew McCarron who was the first CMSer in and the second overall in a time of 16:36. |
First female was CMSer Pattie Dalconzo of Lancaster who showed her all-terrain speed by hurdling through the construction like a cheetah and breaking the tape at 20:09. I think we would have seen a sub-20 performance by Pattie if the race had taken place a day earlier when the road was still intact. What's the difference -- it was a superb performance under any conditions! First senior was CMSer John Lee of Harvard who came across the finish line in 17:40. Glenn Sim of Bolton was the first master in a time of 20:02 and CMSer Jim Daley was first veteran to sail through the cones in a time of 20:48. U.S. Coast Guard & CMSer Jayna McCarron showing her land skills took first junior overall in a time of 21:05 and Stefan Sicard of West Fitchburg was first male junior with a time of 25:26. |

PLEASE NOTE: With all the construction now beginning to take hold along the race course, all runners should use caution and common sense while warming up, running the race, and when cooling down. CMS is actively discussing the situation and looking to develop a plan of action for future races as the construction is expected to get worse before it gets better. |
