Lisa Mentzer got things going by firing off the starting gun for the Annual Race (well ok, shouted the runners command), and off they went.

First in was John Lee from Harvard in a most respectable 17:36. First CMS'er across the line was Bob Johnson from Leominster. His time was 18:31 which not only took 2nd place overall but also landed Bob the masters division title.

On the women's side of things, there was a real nail biter for first female. Pattie Dalconzo squeaked this one out in 19:37, with CMS'er Kim Duclos right on her coat tails in a time of 19:38.

The Addison Family of Worcester did the CMS family proud with Zachary Addison taking 1st in the junior division and his mom Maria Addison taking first in the female senior division, and his dad Bland Addison was only 80 seconds off of 1st veteran Jim Daley's time of 20:42.

1st female junior honors went to Kim Como of West Warren in a time of 22:25 and Laura Beckwith took home the trophy for 1st female veteran with a time of 25:44.

To end the evenings festivities, outgoing president Lisa Mentzer welcomed the new CMS President Kevin Fallon. Kevin proceeded to award Barry Smith the Volunteer of the Year award for his ongoing efforts to continually keep the CMS website fresh with content and race results. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this award, it holds the same prestige as the Nobel Peace Prize (without the monetary gain that comes with the Nobel).

Thanks to all the CMS'ers who made the pilgrimage to Orchard Hills this week to show their support. It's nights like this that are what the Central Mass Striders are all about. We look forward to seeing all of you on the roads, over the trails and at the races!
